Playing Field
RICHARD ROPER PLAYING FIELD
The Parish Council owns the 14 acre playing field at Lenborough Road which is managed on behalf of the residents. The Field provides 3G FA- approved All-Weather Pitch and a children's play area, with a range of play equipment. The land for this facility was gifted to the Parish by Mr Richard Roper in the early 1980s and a further area was given to the Parish is the late 1990s by the Faccenda family.
The Pavilion provides changing facilities along with a small kitchen and meeting room
The Playing Field is used at weekends during the football season by the Winslow United Junior Football Club which also uses the All-Weather Pitch on weekday evenings. During the summer, the cricket square is used by the Gawcott and Hillesden Cricket Club and on some weekends by Buckingham Cricket Club. A number of Field improvements have been facilitated by grants in recent years. These include improved to the ground drainage system, new fencing for the All-Weather-Pitch and an extension to the car park.
Please note that casual bookings for the All-Weather Pitch cannot be arranged, so, if you are interested in using the pitch, please plan ahead giving as much notice as possible. There are already block bookings for pitch most weekday evenings and on Saturday mornings during the football season.
